The African Women in Banking and Finance Awards (AWIBF) is a pioneering cross-country initiative that celebrates and elevates the remarkable achievements of women leaders within Africa’s diverse finance ecosystem. Established in 2014, AWIBF is the first awards platform of its kind on the continent, shining a spotlight on women across banking, insurance, microfinance, accounting, and investment sectors.

Over the past decade, AWIBF has become a powerful force for change by recognizing excellence, catalyzing policy dialogue, promoting gender-inclusive financial services, and inspiring the next generation of finance professionals. Our mission is to create an inclusive finance sector where women are not only visible but empowered, valued, and celebrated.

Through a robust calendar of activities—including our annual awards night, campus mentorship programs, the exclusive Finance.She Summits, and the continent’s first dedicated AWIBF Magazine—we continue to lead the charge in championing women’s leadership, innovation, and influence in African finance.

AWIBF has honored over 200 distinguished women professionals, supported institution-level innovation in gender-responsive financial products, and inspired inter-institutional collaborations across Ghana and the ECOWAS region.
